Privacy notice
Mid-Iowa Insurance & Real Estate, Inc. ("Mid-Iowa," "we") runs this website. This notice explains what we collect through the site, why, and what we do with it.
Last updated October 5, 2026
It's about the website. If you're an insurance customer, our separate privacy notice explains how we handle your policy information; ask the office for a copy at (712) 792-4324.
What we collect
What you type into a form. When you ask for a quote, a policy review, a home value, information about a listing or a rental, or just send us a message, we receive what you enter: your name, phone number, email address, the best time to reach you, your town, the address of a property you're asking about, what you're asking about, and any note you add. Our forms don't ask for your date of birth, Social Security number, driver's license number, vehicle ID numbers, or health information, and please don't put them in a note. The policy review form can also take an optional copy of your current policy, such as a photo or PDF of the declarations page. It's stored privately, sent only to our office, and deleted from the website after 30 days.
A rental application. If you apply for a rental, we also receive what the application asks: when you'd like to move in, where you live now and your previous address, your rent or house payment and your landlords, your work and income and your previous employer, the names of the other adults and how many people and pets will live with you, your references and an emergency contact, your vehicle's make and model, whether you have renter's insurance or want a quote for it, your yes or no answers to the background questions and anything you tell us about them, and any comments you add. It doesn't ask for your Social Security number, date of birth, driver's license, or bank or card numbers.
Which page you sent it from. Each request records the page it came from (for example, the farm insurance page), so it reaches the right person.
Basic technical information. Like most websites, our hosting provider handles your device's IP address and browser details to deliver pages and to block spam. We use your IP address for a short time to limit repeated form submissions; we don't keep it with your request.
How people use the site. We use Google Analytics to see how people find the site and which pages they visit: things like the pages viewed, how you got here, the kind of device and browser, your general area (city or region, not your address), and when a form is sent or a phone number is tapped (the kind of form or number, not the number itself). It doesn't receive what you type into a form.
Cookies. Google Analytics sets cookies to count visits and tell new visitors from returning ones. The site doesn't use advertising cookies. A YouTube or Vimeo tour on a listing page may set that company's own cookies when you play it. You can block cookies in your browser, or use Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
How we use it
- To answer you: to call or email you back about what you asked.
- To send your request to the right person in our office.
- To review a rental application, including checking it with the landlords, employers and references you list.
- To keep the site working and to stop spam and abuse.
We don't sell your information, and we don't share it with anyone for their own marketing.
Who sees it
- Our staff who handle your request.
- The companies that run the site for us, only so the site works: website hosting, the database that stores form requests, and the service that sends us the email alert about your request. Our web developer, AGC Consulting LLC, maintains the site and these services for us.
- Google, which runs Google Analytics for us and receives the visit information described above.
- If you ask for an insurance quote, we may share what's needed with the carriers we represent to get you that quote.
- If you apply for a rental, the landlords, employers and references you list, when we contact them to check your application.
- Anyone the law requires us to share it with, such as under a valid court order.
How long we keep it
We keep form requests while they're useful for serving you and as our business records require. If we stop using our current website provider, the requests are handed back to us and deleted from the provider's systems within 30 days.
Home listings
Listing information on this site comes from the NoCoast MLS through MLS Grid and is shown under their rules. We don't collect anything from you to show listings. Listing information is deemed reliable but not guaranteed.
Listing alerts. If you sign up for listing alerts, we keep your name, your email address and the searches you save, and which listings we've sent you, so we can email you new ones that match. Every alert has a link to change your search, pause them or unsubscribe, and unsubscribing stops them right away.
Your choices
You can ask us what you've sent through the site, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, unless the law or an open policy or transaction means we must keep it. Call the office or write to us at the address below.
Children
This site is for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Security
Requests travel over an encrypted connection and are stored with access limited to the people who need them. No system is perfectly secure; if something goes wrong that affects your information, we'll tell you as the law requires.
Changes
If we change this notice, we'll update the date at the top.
